What's Hot What's Not for Cabinet Colors in the New Year

For 2025, there are some exciting colors that are trending, and there are some that you’ll want to avoid for this upcoming year. You’ll want to stray away from the pastels of the past few years and choose rich tones. Colors like soft lavender, pale peach, and mint green make your kitchen feel outdated. At one time, these tones were seen as playful and offered a vintage feel. But now, you’ll want to opt for deeper tones for a more striking look. So, ditch the pastels, call a kitchen cabinet refinisher and paint them sage green, blue-gray, or warm terracotta.

2. Navy blue

At one time, it was on trend to paint your cabinets Navy, but for the new year, designers are straying away from this color. Now, you’ll want to choose softer earth tones. Such colors as greige and taupe are a better option. If you just love blue, and want to stay on trend, you can paint your kitchen blue green, or blue gray for a striking, modern look.

3. Light wood tones

Often, wood tones play a part in the overall color scheme of your kitchen, depending on the surrounding materials. For 2025, reconsider your desire for lighter woods, such as whitewashed, and decide on rich, warm woods. The ultra minimalist look of yesteryear is on its way out of style. Warmer woods will create a welcoming feel and make your kitchen seem cozier. And who doesn’t love a comfortable, cozy kitchen when sipping a cup of morning coffee?

4. Cool-toned gray

It’s going to be best to avoid cool toned grays this year. Even though they made a comeback from their ultra popularity in the 90’s they just aren’t warm enough for the new trend. Layering different, multiple shades of gray without contrast is too cool and not dramatic enough for a contemporary look.

For this year, opt for greige if you love gray. After all, it blends well and complements almost every other hue. Therefore, it is the most adaptable neutral and it will be a very popular color for 2025. In fact, many designers believe it will replace white, which is a no no for the new year as well.
